You Want It Darker (For Leonard Cohen)Painting #114

6 x 8 in. Oil on board 12/8/2016

This painting began a while ago but I elaborated on it when Leonard Cohen died. Listening to his last album while painting was a bit strange for me. I also went back so some of his older work. The piece still feels very transitory for me, but I've come to terms with that and need to let it go.

This year has been pretty rough on everyone. We've lost a lot of creative people and I'm fortunate to have had this project to come 'face to face' with the ones that affected me most. Each of them has had distinctly different outcomes and I'm grateful for the chance to see them to fruition as best I could. David Bowie, Prince and now Leonard Cohen. We were lucky to have them all. I hope the transition was peaceful and thank you for all your work.
