I've recently completed a commission of Peppermint, my friend Amy's lovely kitty squinting in the sun. It was fun painting something so fluffy since my own cats have little or no fur at all. Challenge accepted. I've been fortunate to get some fun commissions, and I'm currently planning a lengthy trip to paint murals on the walls of a home in Inistioge, Ireland! I’m going to absorb as much of the local landscape there as I can.

However, a months-long stay would mean I'd have to bring MY kitties with me, just like I did on a recent two-week trip to Paris. (I have an upcoming post about THAT!) Unfortunately, Ireland and the UK have policies in place that require you to use a “pet transport” company. Bringing your pet in the cabin of the plane is forbidden. It's a short flight (just under two hours) and it will only have to be done TO Ireland from Paris. They can fly in the cabin to France and on the way OUT of Ireland. Easy peasy. They're regulating how animals get to Ireland and it ain't cheap.

As luck (or fate) would have it I also have a show scheduled for September, in Paris. (!) Part of the whole Paris story I need to explain. Along with all the details involved in hanging a show internationally, not the least of which being the shipping costs from NYC to Paris, I would have to raise the funds for this unexpected cost. I found a lovely pet transport company that I trust and got a quote that I believe is doable so…

I turn to you, my cat-loving community! I had SO much fun painting this little furry creature that I'm opening up time for two or three more of these cat commissions to help get my “kids” to Ireland. I'm calling it #cats4cats. I'm working on several large paintings and drawings at the moment so I'm looking forward to focussing on these being smaller works.

Keeping it simple: an 8 x 10 inch oil painting on aluminum panel done in the style of a Daguerreotype. This is the style I'm currently working in for the suite of paintings and drawings slated to debut in Paris and I wish to stay within these parameters.  The cost: $400 each, with $200 due at the outset and the balance due upon completion. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please forward this to them. I'd love to see all those kitties out there!
